Our Tutor Joy Branch
My journey started many years ago, as I interacted with the deaf, as well as young ladies who had challenges understanding the traditional way they were being taught, and felt very confused and frustrated.
I recognized the need to be creative in teaching and developing specific strategies in order to assist them in understanding what they were being taught.
I attended The Erdiston Teachers’ College, where I attained a certificate in Special Education Provision.
I started tutoring children who learn differently. Some of the children were diagnosed and the results were Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Mild Cerebral Palsy and Mild Autism. I teach according to the child’s understanding and receptive skills, and frequently work on a one on one basis.
Incorporated in my lesson plan was exercise, song and dance for teaching Mathematics and English, as well as other methods/strategies which assisted the students in fully understanding how to cope academically.
Based on my love and vision for the youth, I realize that every child is different, and should be treated and taught based on this.
We are not all academically inclined, and my vision for students is to be balanced in every area. This should assist in helping students excel in their goals and careers and achieving their dreams.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
CJ’s takes on a wholistic approach. This is done by incorporating different teaching styles, keeping open communication with parents, and collaborating community partnerships, which when combined, brings the best opportunities for the children.

As I join the CJ's Elite team, my vision is to educate, encourage and inspire students from a young age. Children absorb new information quickly, which is why I believe they should be taught different trades/skills. This term will be the Introduction to Sewing for Beginners. This entails the use of different tools and equipment and how to use them safely, how to thread a needle, cut fabric, sew on a button, and the various types of stitches. We will also work on fun, educational sewing/craft projects, where they will learn how to follow instructions on sewing while creating a project, and how to complete the projects safely and confidently.
